While cysts - tiny sacs that contain fluid or liquid that may be semi-solid - can occur anywhere within the body, when the development of cysts occur in the kidneys these are known as "renal cysts". In the majority of cases these cysts cause no harm, are not cancerous, and will go unnoticed causing no symptoms throughout the life of an individual, however, in some cases these can cause complications and some types of cysts may be an indication of the presence of cancer within the kidneys.
